Exhibition Test and Tag Requirements

Sarah Allen

You are planning to exhibit at a trade show. Fabulous!

The trade show could be at your local hall, local market or a massive exhibition venue like Rod Laver Arena or the Sydney Exhibition Centre. What are your test and tag requirements? Does EVERYTHING you are taking on site really need testing?

AS/NZS 3760:2022 In Service Inspection and Testing of Portable Electrical Appliances and RCD’s provides guidance in this area.

Organisers are also very rightly noticing the dangers associated with “piggy back plugs”, daily chaining of power boards and the use of double adaptors with no overload protection. The risk of fire associated with these practices is significant and there are most certainly alternative options available for exhibitors hence many organisers are banning these practices at their exhibitions.
